This April, the Yalan Packing sales team participated in the 139th Canton Fair (Spring Canton Fair 2026) in Guangzhou.
We participated in two phases of the exhibition: Phase 1 (April 15-19, Booth No. 1.1G45), located in the New Materials and Chemical Products Zone; Phase 2 (April 23-27, Booth No. 18.2K43), located in the Gifts and Premiums Zone.
The two different phases of the exhibition attracted visitors from different industries, making it exceptionally diverse and exciting for us. Some buyers came with detailed product dimensions to discuss purchasing matters, while others were looking for new products or simply seeking better packaging alternatives for their existing products.
For our team, these exchanges have always been the most valuable part of the Canton Fair.

Two Canton Fairs, Two Different Packaging Negotiation Approaches
At the first Canton Fair, many negotiations were more technical.
Exhibitors inquired about stretch film thickness, roll weight, tensile properties, adhesive types, binding strength, and different packaging methods. Some customers had very specific needs and brought samples or specifications for price comparison.
Other exhibitors raised different questions: "We're currently using this type; can you recommend something better to help us reduce costs and increase efficiency?"
These kinds of questions often sparked more valuable discussions.
At the second Canton Fair, our booth was in the gifts and premiums section, and the negotiations were different. Buyers were generally more interested in small packaging, customized products, printed tapes, mini stretch films, and packaging suitable for retail or distribution.
Showing our products in two different exhibition areas made us realize a simple truth: the requirements for the same packaging material can vary greatly depending on the user and the application scenario.

Our Exhibits at the 2026 Canton Fair
Visitors to our booth can see and experience many of our everyday packaging products firsthand.
Stretch film is one of our main exhibits, including hand-operated stretch film, machine use stretch film, mini stretch film, and color stretch film. Visitors can not only view product specifications but also directly compare actual products and discuss details such as thickness, width, roll weight, core size, and applications with us.
We also showcase a variety of packaging tapes Different markets have different preferences for tape thickness, adhesive, color, roll length, and packaging methods. Custom printing and private label packaging are also popular topics at our booth for distributors and brand owners.
Our PP tape band and PET strapping products attracted numerous buyers seeking solutions for cartons, pallets, and heavy-duty cargo packaging. We also discussed other pallet packaging materials and tools with visitors looking to purchase multiple related products at once.
Showing these products together in one booth facilitated negotiations. Customers might initially come to inquire about stretch film, only to later realize that tape or strapping was also part of their purchasing plan.
What Packaging Buyers Are Asking Now
Price is always a crucial factor in purchasing negotiations, but at this Canton Fair, we noticed many buyers asking more detailed questions before discussing prices.
What is the actual weight of each roll of film? What is the net weight of the film after removing the core? Which film thickness is suitable for a specific pallet? Can cartons and labels be customized? How many cartons can fit in one container? Can several packaging products be shipped together?
These are all questions we should pay close attention to.
Two rolls of stretch film may look almost identical, but their actual performance can be vastly different. The same applies to packaging tape. If each carton or pallet requires more material, a lower unit price doesn't necessarily mean lower packaging costs.
For buyers comparing different suppliers, we believe that comprehensive specifications and services are more important than simply comparing unit prices.

Choosing Stretch Film: Start with Load Capacity, Not Just Thickness
Stretch film was one of the most discussed products at the trade show, and one question was repeatedly raised: What thickness of stretch film should I choose?
There is no single thickness of stretch film suitable for all applications.
The required stretch film thickness is drastically different for a pallet of uniformly sized cartons versus a pallet of sharp-cornered, heavy, or irregularly shaped products. Hand wrapping and machine wrapping also need to be considered separately.
Before recommending stretch film, we typically need to understand the pallet weight, cargo shape, wrapping method, and current film usage. Thickness is important, but tensile strength, puncture resistance, and holding power are equally important.
In some applications, using a thinner film with suitable performance can reduce material consumption. In other applications, choosing an overly thin film will only lead to more wrapping cycles, film breakage, and pallet instability.
Our goal should be to use the appropriate amount of film to secure the goods, rather than simply choosing the thickest or thinnest film.
Cartons are also very important for packaging tape.
We've discussed similar issues regarding packaging tape before.
Buyers typically consider size first, such as 48 mm × 100 meters, but this is only one aspect of the specifications. The weight of the carton, the smoothness of its surface, storage conditions, and the method of use all influence which tape is more suitable.
For lightweight cartons used in typical warehouse conditions, the requirements are relatively straightforward. However, for heavier cartons, recycled cartons, or more demanding storage and transportation conditions, different thicknesses or adhesive strengths may be required.
This is why we encourage buyers to tell us the actual intended use of the tape. A carton sample or a brief application description can sometimes help us make a better recommendation than a detailed specification sheet.
Why We Participate in the Canton Fair for Decades
The Canton Fair remains one of the best places for us to meet buyers from diverse markets around the world in a short period of time.
This diverse market environment is very friendly to packaging manufacturers.
Distributors from Southeast Asia may need to source completely different roll sizes from European importers. South American customers may be more concerned with container load capacity and CIF cost, while other buyers may be more focused on custom branding or reducing packaging material.
Understanding these differences firsthand helps us comprehend market trends and buyers' actual needs from suppliers.
This also gives customers the opportunity to see products in person, ask detailed questions, and meet potential future partners.

Some questions customers asked at the trade show:
Can Yalan Packaging customize stretch film and packaging tape?
Yes. Depending on the product, we can discuss different widths, thicknesses, roll lengths, colors, core sizes, printing, and packaging methods. Having specifications or samples is usually the best starting point.
Do you offer hand and machine stretch film?
Yes. We offer stretch film for both hand and machine use, as well as mini and other custom stretch film products.
Can I purchase tape, stretch film, and strapping at the same time?
Yes. Many customers purchase multiple packaging products simultaneously. Please inform us of the products, specifications, and quantities you require so we can discuss suitable packaging and shipping arrangements.
What information should I provide to get an accurate quote?
For stretch film, please provide the width, thickness, length or net weight, core size, quantity, and whether it is for manual or machine operation.
For packaging tape, please provide the width, length, thickness, adhesive requirements, color, and quantity. If printing or customized packaging is required, please also let us know.
I met your team at the Canton Fair. How can I proceed with the project?
Please contact our sales team and mention that we met at the Canton Fair. If you have any quotations, photos, samples, or specifications we discussed at the booth, please send them to us, and we can continue our cooperation based on this information.
Looking forward to seeing you again at the Canton Fair!
